YOUTH INITIATIVES

The goal of Youth Initiatives is to implement the programs and curriculum of these programs in such a way that will inspire, motivate, and support the youth participants in striving towards greater paths in life.

Rooted in the Sorority’s commitment to scholarship, mentorship, academic excellence, and personal development, the educational development programming of the chapter is dedicated to empowering youth through impactful programming and initiatives that nurture potential and foster success.

The implementation of national and locally driven programs is designed to:
  • Promote academic excellence
  • Provide financial assistance to students within the Chapter’s service area
  • Support the development of life skills, leadership, and self-confidence

Bay Area youth are invited to attend the chapter’s annual Why Go To College Forum and participate in one of the Youth Initiative programs outlined below.

Through this work, BBAAC proudly contributes to a brighter, more empowered future—one young person at a time.

Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy

Designed for girls aged 11 to 14, this program focuses on enriching and enhancing academic experiences, particularly in math, science, and technology. Delta Academy encourages participants to dream big and prepares them for leadership in the 21st century.

Delta G.E.M.S. (Growing and Empowering Myself Successfully)

Dr. Jeanne I. Noble Delta GEMS Institute

Building on the foundation laid in Delta Academy, this program supports young women aged 14 to 18 in transforming their dreams into tangible goals. Through mentorship, academic guidance, and personal development activities, Delta G.E.M.S. helps participants prepare for college and career success.

EMBODI (Empowering Males to Build Opportunities for Developing
Independence)

EMBODI addresses the challenges faced by African American males through open dialogue, mentorship, and strategic programming. With the support of community partners, the program seeks to inspire change and promote academic achievement, leadership, and personal growth among young men.
