SOCIAL ACTION

The mission of the Social Action Committee is to encourage active participation as individuals in political activity; work to enact national and local legislation of particular interest to African Americans and women, and to promote social activism, targeted advocacy, and ongoing education specific to current and evolving local, state, national and international issues

We accomplish this by:

Promoting leadership, advocacy, and empowerment among members to bring about effective solutions to challenges

Establishing positions on emerging or perennial public issues and determining appropriate response, and

Directing the actions of members and chapters

The focus of the Social Action Committee is to increase awareness of social change, cultural, and educational advancements.  The membership cultivates person-to-person relationships with the community power structures to promote leadership, advocacy, and empowerment in order to bring about effective solutions to challenges that face our community.

We join and volunteer leadership with civic and other action organizations to address issues that affect public policy, economic viability and social justice.
