Greetings!
Welcome to the Official Website of the Berkeley Bay Area Alumnae Chapter of
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
It is with great pride that we welcome you—members, friends, and community partners—to our digital home. Whether you're visiting to learn more about our chapter, discover the work we’re doing throughout the Bay Area, or explore ways to get involved, we are delighted you’re here.
Chartered on March 30, 1934, by six visionary women, our chapter has served as a pillar of strength and service for over 90 years. Today, our thriving sisterhood includes more than 130 dedicated women committed to transforming and empowering its community through purposeful service, measurable impact, and enduring fortitude.
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., founded in 1913 by 22 dynamic collegiate women at Howard University, is a private, not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to provide assistance and support through established programs in local communities throughout the world. Our national organization is grounded in sisterhood, scholarship, service, and social action—principles that continue to guide our local chapter’s work.
Here in the greater Bay Area, our service is guided by the sorority’s Five-Point Programmatic Thrust:
Δ Economic Development
Δ Educational Development
Δ International Awareness and Involvement
Δ Physical and Mental Health
Δ Political Awareness and Involvement
Through these focus areas, we design and deliver impactful programs that uplift, inform, and inspire. This website serves as a window into our sisterhood and our service. We hope you will be encouraged by what you see, inspired to support our efforts, and moved to join us as a partner in creating lasting, positive change in the communities we serve.
Please explore, connect, and return often as we continue to serve Berkeley and the broader Bay Area with excellence.
Thanks for visiting!
In Service and Leadership,
Petrina Alexander-Perteet
Chapter President
